Andreas Dür

I am Professor of International Politics and Head of the Department of Political Science at the University of Salzburg (Austria). I am also a fellow at the Salzburg Centre of European Union Studies. My research interests are in the areas of International Political Economy, International Relations, interest groups and European Union politics. More specifically, most of my research has focused on trade policy, interest groups, international negotiations and public opinion. Here you can find a list of some of my publications (many of which are available as full texts).

Before coming to Salzburg, I was a lecturer at the UCD School of Politics and International Relations (2005-2009) and a research fellow at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (2003-2005). In 2004, I got a PhD from the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the European University Institute in Florence.

I'm the (co-)author of three monographs: The Political Influence of Business in the European Union (with David Marshall and Patrick Bernhagen, University of Michigan Press, 2019), Insiders versus Outsiders: Interest Group Politics in Multilevel Europe (with Gemma Mateo, Oxford University Press, 2016), and Protection for Exporters: Power and Discrimination in Transatlantic Trade Relations, 1930-2010 (Cornell University Press, 2010).

I also recently co-edited a special issue on "Reacting to the Politicization of Trade Policy" with the Journal of European Public Policy. In 2015, a volume entitled Trade Cooperation: The Purpose, Design and Effects of Preferential Trade Agreements was published by Cambridge University Press. I am also the co-editor of Key Controversies in European Integration (third edition published in 2021 by Macmillan).

My profile on Google Scholar can be found here. Information on my project (together with Leonardo Baccini and Manfred Elsig) on the Design of Trade Agreements (DESTA) can be found at http://www.designoftradeagreements.org.

From 2017 until 2023, I led the ERC-funded project TRADEPOWER
